Reduction in Flights at BGM Not a Surprise
Local officials say a word of a reduction in flights at the Greater Binghamton Airport comes as no surprise.
Delta Airlines schedules annual equipment maintenance and inspections and that requires a temporary service schedule adjustment.
From January to February there will be two flights daily at BGM instead of the normal three, connecting passengers to service to Delta’s hub out of the Greater Detroit Airport.
During those weeks, flights in and out of Binghamton may be a little more full.
Aviation officials say available seats during the maintenance period will go from about 150 to 100 per day.
Broome County officials say they are continuing their efforts to attract more carriers to the Greater Binghamton Airport. Those began prior to the exit of American and United Airlines from Broome County’s airport in 2017, leaving Delta as the only major commercial passenger airline serving the Binghamton area.
