The Southern Tier Chapter of the American Red Cross is holding an event that can help area residents reduce deaths and injuries due to home fires.  Sound the Alarm will be held from September 23rd through October 15th.  According to a press release from the American Red Cross volunteers will install one hundred free 10-year lithium battery powered smoke alarms.  This will be done as part of a nationwide Red Cross project.

The goal is to help prevent as many home fire-related deaths and injuries as possible.  For additional information on obtaining one of the free smoke alarms go online to:
