Public Hearing Planned on Controversial Vestal Housing Development
Vestal residents will be able discuss a rezoning plan to clear the way for a major housing project at a town board public hearing.
Landmark Properties of Georgia has proposed building 161 multi-family residential units on land off Bunn Hill and Jensen roads.
Many people who live near the 43-acre site have been fighting the project. Other Vestal residents also have spoken out against the development.
The town board has scheduled a public hearing on the rezoning proposal for Wednesday at 6 p.m.
It's not known when the board may vote on the plan. The Broome County planning department concluded the project would have a negative impact on the community.
A Bunn Hill Road resident has indicated opponents are prepared to take legal action if the town approves the project.
