It's a quiet Primary Day in Broome County with contests in only two municipalities.

There are primaries in the village of Johnson City and in the town of Fenton. Polls will be open from noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Republicans in Johnson City will nominate the party's candidate for mayor. Incumbent Greg Deemie is being challenged by village trustees Richard Balles and Martin Meaney.

The winner will be the GOP candidate in the general election on November 7. Village planning board vice chairman Andrew Holbert is running as the Democratic candidate for mayor.

Members of the Conservative Party and the Independence Party will be able to write in a candidate for mayor in the Johnson City primary.

In Fenton, Ambrose Madden and Michael Husar are running in a Republican primary for town justice.
