You can hear all about the Census, what it means to Broome County and the widely-debated issue of the counting of illegal immigrants as Broome County Director of Planning and Economic Development, Frank Evangelisti is the guest on our weekly, local public affairs program, Southern Tier Close Up.

Evangelisti says residents need to understand what the numbers mean to everything from the number of seats in Congress and federal funding for transportation projects to helping businesses to decide if they want to locate in an area and where.

In April, Broome County launched its Complete Count Committee in an effort to identify populations and develop strategies to make sure the most households possible respond to the census and are counted.

Southern Tier Close Up is heard Saturdays at 12:10 p.m. following Joe Stanley and the Law on News Radio 1290 WNBF.
