The Binghamton Rumble Ponies won the weekend matches against the Reading Fightin’ Phils with an abundance of hits,

The Ponies won Saturdays game 13 to 6, and in the Sunday matchup Carlos Cortes got things going with a 1st inning RBI scoring Jake Mangum, but the Phils opened up a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the first.

Another Reading blast over the fence in the third put the Phils up 6-1, followed by another home run a 7th inning putting Reading up 7-1.

The Ponies came back with an impressive fifth inning four run rally making it 7-5, but the Phils would hit their 5th home run of the night in the 7th inning putting Reading up 8-5.

Binghamton tied the game with a three-run homer from Yoel Romero, and with a scoreless ninth the game went into extra innings.

The teams battled into the 10th inning when Mark Vientos hit a two run homer giving the Ponies a 10-8 win and splitting the six game series at Reading. The teams combined for eight home runs (5-Phils, 3-Ponies)

The Ponies have a combines total of 58 runs in the six game road trip, a sign that the hitting is improving, as the team remains a game a head of last place Hartford.

The Rumble Ponies begin a six game series in Richmond to take on the Flying Squirrels. Tomorrow night at 6:35p, before they return home next Tuesday July 6th for a six game home series against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats
