Authorities say a sedan driven by 29-year-old Robert O'Dell of Erin was pulled over on Route 96B in the town of Candor Tuesday night.

According to New York State Police, the vehicle was stopped because of a loud muffler.

Troopers say they determined O'Dell had been driving while impaired by drugs. After smelling marijuana inside the car, police searched the vehicle and discovered more than four ounces of the drug.

Investigators say O'Dell was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs and fourth-degree criminal possession of marijuana. They say O'Dell was cited for several other traffic violations.

O'Dell was ordered to appear in Candor town court on December 11.
