According to the sheriff's office, the body was found near Turkey Hill Road.

As a result of the discovery, investigators suspended a search for a 58-year-old man who had been reported missing on Monday.

The Berkshire fire department and volunteers from across the county had planned to conduct a search for Harold Benjamin Jr.

Investigators believe the body found in the field may be that of the missing man.

An autopsy is planned to determine the cause of death.

The Ithaca Journal had reported Benjamin, who owned a coin shop in the DeWitt Mall, had told police the business had been robbed on June 21.

The newspaper reported Benjamin had said an amount "in the neighborhood" of $28,000 had been taken in the incident.
