A Johnson City man who was pulled over for using a cellphone behind the wheel has been accused of possessing more than four ounces of marijuana.

Authorities say 47-year-old John Gillikin of Johnson City was arrested late Wednesday morning.

According to state police, Gillikin was stopped on Route 11 in the Town of Triangle after a trooper saw him using a phone while driving.

Investigators say the trooper detected an odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle and then conducted a search.

Gillikin was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of marijuana. He was ordered to appear in Triangle town court on November 9.
