Pennsylvania State Police are now releasing the names of the people in a mini van who were killed when a Binghamton man, traveling in the wrong direction on Interstate 81 in Harford Township, hit their vehicle head-on.

44 year old Brooks Lee of Binghamton, who was driving the pickup truck north in the southbound lane, and minivan passengers Sandra Caicedo and Clemencia Gallo, both of Equador, died as a result of the crash at around 11 p.m. Saturday, May 7.

Lee and Gallo were not wearing seat belts.

Six others in the minivan were injured. Two remain hospitalized with serious injuries.

Pennsylvania Department of Transportation spokesman, James May told WNBF that Lee was actually driving in the correct direction on I81 South initially but witnesses reported he pulled his Chevrolet Silverado over and made a K-turn in the middle of the interstate and proceeded to drive north in the southbound lane, colliding with the van carrying eight people.

Troopers say information from an airbag control module shows Lee’s truck was going 62 mph with no braking prior to impact.

Toxicology test results are still pending.

The other occupants of the van have been identified as Oscar Caicedo of San Francisco, California, Patricio Caicedo of Equador, a 13 year old boy from Queens, Andrea Caicedo of Queens, Emiliano Caicedo of Queens and Flor Carte of Queens.
