PennDOT to Close Part of a Road in Bradford County Due to Landslide
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation says it is going to have to close a section of road in Bradford County due to “an active landslide.”
PennDOT this week announced the slide was on an area near the intersection of Route 414 and Jennings Road in Leroy Township.
Officials say they planned to close a section of the road in the area on December 7 but that could happen sooner if the slide becomes progressively worse.
PennDOT says it will set up a detour on Canton Cross Road, Southside Road and route 414. Local traffic will be able to access Route 414 from either side of the slide area.
Authorities have known about the shifting of the earth for some time and a project to repair the slide was bid in September. Work was already scheduled to begin in December but PennDOT says it’s looking into ways to move the project along to limit the amount of time the road will be closed.
