New Owners of Owego Ice Cream Shop Announce Opening Date
A popular ice cream store in Tioga County soon will open for the season under new ownership.
Ice Cream Works! had become a fixture in the village of Owego since it started business nearly a decade ago.
Sean and April Villanti acquired the shop at the end of February. They purchased the business from Mike and Diane Franz, who launched the operation in 2012.
The new owners said they enjoyed visiting the ice cream shop over the years. They're just starting to practice the fine art of scooping in preparation for the new season. They plan to open the store on March 19.
The husband and wife say they expect to keep things basically the same, although they are planning to offer some new options like hot dogs and small snacks.
In a Facebook post, Mike and Diane Franz expressed appreciation to the community, family and friends for the support they provided to the business. They wrote that although they've sold the business, "our family is sticking around."
