The Town of Owego is asking for donations to pay for a memorial to the September 11, 2001 terror attacks that is to be placed at Hickories Park.

The $50,000 memorial will include a piece of the PATH train rail that had been located under the World Trade Center when the hijacked plane crashed into the towers.

The Town plans to also include a flag pole along with two illuminated blue lights to represent the Twin Towers.  A narrative wall, mosaic with a concrete flag design is to top granite depictions of the states where the attacks occurred and the flight paths of the planes involved.

Donations should be made to the Town of Owego, 9-11 Memorial, Owego Town Hall 2354 State Route 434 Apalachin, N.Y. 13732.

The Town plans to dedicate the memorial this year on the 15th anniversary of the September 11 attacks.
