Broome County Distributes 3rd Round Of Opioid Settlement Funds
September was recognized as Recovery Month according to an announcement from the Broome County Health Department.
Opioid Settlement Fund Awards
Recovery Month highlights the importance of recovery and the local organizations working to support individuals and families affected by substance use. On the final day of the month, the county announced a 3rd round of Opioid Settlement Fund awards. Over $800,000 will be awarded to eight local organizations.
Broome County noted that this effort puts opioid settlement dollars back into the community and supports local work focused on prevention, treatment, harm reduction, and recovery.
We fought to make sure Broome County received a share of these settlement funds, and we’re putting that money back into our community where it can make a difference. Recovery Month is a good reminder that people do recover, and that people need support along the way. These investments help the organizations doing that work every day and make sure these dollars are being used to help people right here in Broome County. - Jason Garner, Broome County Executive
