
Operation Healthy Broome Offers Vital Services For Community Health
Broome County Government has joined with the U.S. Department of Defense’s Innovative Readiness Training program and the United Way of Broome County for Operation Healthy Broome.
This program began on Monday, August 11th (2025) and will continue through Wednesday, August 20th. This program for Broome County residents and anyone in need from across the region is providing no-cost medical, dental, and vision care services.
Operation Healthy Broome Services Offered
• Medical: Preventive care, acute disease management, appropriate referrals (Ages 16+), school physicals (Ages 6-18), behavioral health screenings (Ages 18+)
• Dental: Exams, oral cancer screenings, hygiene education, pain management, X-rays, fillings, simple to moderate extractions (Ages 16+)
• Vision: Refractions, screenings for glaucoma and macular degeneration, dilated diabetic eye exams, fabrication of glasses (ages 5+)

Residents who wish to take advantage of the Operation Healthy Broome Services need to register. Registration opens each day through August 20th at 8 a.m. The services will be available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., or until the daily capacity is reached for each service.
Broome County notes that these services are offered first-come, first-served basis. For those who plan to attend, please arrive early and expect wait times. While it is not required, it's recommended that attendees bring any relevant medical records or a list of current prescriptions.
Broome County Transit Rides To Operation Healthy Broome
For those needing a ride to Operation Healthy Broome, the Broome County Transit system will provide rides at no cost to anyone attending. According to Broome County, inform the bus driver you are headed to Healthy Broome, and your fare will be waived.
For those driving, enter SUNY Broome’s campus via Lt. Vanwinkle Drive, park in Lot 1 near South College Drive, and exit via North College Drive. Accessible parking is available directly at the Ice Center. Signage is posted throughout SUNY Broome.
