Troopers say the road was dry and weather clear at 12:29 a.m. when the car veered off the road.

The 2003 Suzuki Grand Vitara overturned and came to rest on the driver’s side after hitting the tree and Walters was partially ejected.  She was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger, 27-year-old Angel Strope of Towanda was critically injured. He was flown to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre.

Authorities say neither Walters nor Strope was wearing a seat belt.
