Old Ozalid Building Coming Down in Johnson City

Demolition crews are tearing down another massive structure on Corliss Avenue in Johnson City.

Workers from LCP Group of Vestal are removing a former Ozalid Corporation warehouse building at 42-44 Corliss Avenue.

The site was donated to Binghamton University by its former owner in May 2017.

The project on the east end of Corliss Avenue is the latest in a series of recent demolitions along the street as development continues for the university's Health Sciences Campus.

The abandoned warehouse is located near a former Endicott Johnson building that is to become the home of the Decker School of Nursing next year.

In recent weeks, several other old residential and commercial buildings on the north side of Corliss Avenue were torn down.

The empty spaces are expected to be used for parking, although they may be used for projects related to the nursing and pharmacy schools in the future.
