Almost Done! Old IBM Endicott Buildings Now Only Memories

A demolition team now is in the process of tearing down the final structure of the "Old Building Group" at the heart of the former IBM manufacturing complex in Endicott.

The job of removing the five vacant buildings started on the final day of 2024. Five months later, the task along North Street in the village is nearing completion.

During this phase of the demolition project, drivers and pedestrians are being detoured around the work zone.

According to Endicott officials, McKinley Avenue is scheduled to be closed daily from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The temporary street closure could be in place for a couple of weeks.

Even after the concrete walls of the final building have been brought down, Gorick Construction crews will continue to work at the site.

Thousands of tons of concrete, steel and other debris will be sorted and hauled away from the Huron Campus.

Much of the concrete is to be crushed and will be used as fill to provide a site for future development projects.

Metal items will be transported to scrap yards for recycling. Other materials that cannot be reused will be hauled to the Broome County landfill.

A Gorick representative has said the company should complete operations at the Endicott site in August.

The former IBM land in Endicott and Endwell is owned by Phoenix Investors of Milwaukee. The company will be working with local and state officials to find suitable tenants for the 10-acre site east of McKinley Avenue.
