Fire and ambulance service officials in Delaware County say an investigation is underway into a fiery crash September 24 in the Town of Hancock that has claimed a life.

Police have not released the name of the person killed when a car rolled over just before 6:30 p.m.

Authorities responding to the scene found the car fully engulfed in flames with a person trapped inside.

Once the flames were extinguished one victim was confirmed dead in the vehicle.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies, the New York State Police and fire crews from Hancock, and Long Eddie responded with Upper Delaware Ambulance, Town of Hancock Ambulance, Delaware County Emergency Services, Delaware County Fire Investigation Team, New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control, New York State Police, Sullivan County Bureau pf Fore and Delaware County Medical Examiners Office all assisted in the incident.
