New York State Electric and Gas is teaming with Lockheed Martin locally to test some new video imaging from the air that could help in fixing storm damage to NYSEG systems in the future.

NYSEG says an assessment will be done into the idea of utilizing a low-flying helicopter, using video imaging, to collect information on damage to electricity delivery systems following storms.

The utility says within the next few days, depending on weather, Lockheed Martin and NYSEG will test the technology in and around the Village and Town of Owego and areas along route 38 extending into Apalachin and around the NYSEG training facility on Reynolds Road in Johnson City.
