First steps were made for the development of a project to build 100 affordable housing units on the Northside of the City of Binghamton, according to an announcement on August 25, 2025, by Mayor Jared M. Kraham.

The Binghamton Local Development Corporation approved an option agreement for the sale of its property at 10-12 West State Street, Binghamton, to CSD Housing.

According to the announcement, there will be a six-month due diligence period to conduct engineering studies and environmental testing as part of the local planning and zoning approval process.

This project represents the latest step forward in our efforts to expand quality housing in every corner of Binghamton. Once completed, the project will contain 50 units of affordable housing and 50 supportive units for residents with mental health services needs. The project was developed in partnership with the New York State Office of Mental Health, Broome County Office of Mental Health, CSD Housing of Pittsford, New York, Rehabilitation Support Services of Altamont, New York, and the Binghamton Local Development Corporation.
