Newburgh Free Academy's Goldbacks exploded for 28 first half points and withstood a furious Binghamton Patriots comeback to record a 35-25 victory Friday night at Alumni Stadium in Binghamton.  The loss drops Binghamton's record to 2-2 while Newburgh, out of Section 9 moves to 2-2.

The Goldbacks used a punishing ground attack to dominate play in the first half.  They drew first blood with a Jadon Monroe touchdown just 2:05 into the opening quarter.

In the second half Binghamton battled back from a four touchdown deficit with 19 straight points.  The comeback was led by quarterback John Petrucci who fired four TD passes and speedster Devin Young who caught two of them.

With the score standing at 28-19 in favor of Newburgh the Goldbacks sealed it with a ten-yard run for a touchdown by Chris Patterson with 3:07 left.  The Patriots countered with one last strike...a Petrucci to Young  74-yard TD grab but Newburgh recovered an onside kick and killed the clock to end it.
