A local hero is being remembered.  50 year old Retired New York State Trooper Michael Boburka passed away at his home Thursday, June 9.

Among the many cases he worked on, many times as a Canine Handler, Trooper Boburka spent one month at the scene of the 2001 terror attack on the World Trade Center. Boburka served 24 years on the force before retiring.

Trooper Boburka, or “Boh-bee”, as his was known to his friends, was borning in Binghamton, graduated from Chenango Forks High School and attended Broome Community College before joining the New York State Police.

Calling hours are 4-7 p.m. June 16 at the William R. Chase & Son Funeral home on Chenango Street in Port Dickinson.  The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 17 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Mended Little Hearts Charity.
