As New Yorkers are clamoring for the limited supplies of COVID-19 vaccine, criminals are jumping at the chance to take advantage.

There have been reports of people being told they can get preferential treatment, bumped up on the eligibility list or have access to an unpublicized vaccination site, many times in exchange for some sort of payment.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is announcing the launch of a new hotline focused on COVID-19 vaccine-related fraud.  If you think you’ve been targeted for a scam, for example, someone offering to reserve a spot in line for you in exchange for personal or financial information, call 833-VAX-SCAM (833-829-7226).

In an update on the vaccination effort, Governor Cuomo says the total week-six federal allocation has been delivered to providers and as of 1 p.m. January 25, distribution sites have received one-million, 304,050 of the first doses and administered 91-percent of those and 71-percent of first and second doses.
