Debate over the reforms has only grown after the new law took effect January 1 with many prosecutors and law enforcement officials like Cortland County District Attorney, Patrick Perfetti, Broome County Sheriff David Harder and Delaware County Sheriff Craig DuMond continuing to call attention to the release of some suspects who otherwise would have been required to be detained for pretrial or held on bail.

Governor Cuomo has indicated the law may need some adjustments, opening the door for additional discussion on possible revisions to the statute.
