Broome County has a new leader in the fight against drug overdoses.

County officials have announced Marissa Lamphere has been tapped as the new Opioid Overdose Prevention Coordinator.

Lamphere, a Public Health Educator, and the County Health Department will help plan, coordinate, evaluate and implement strategies for dealing with the drug epidemic in the region.

Lamphere is to work closely with the Director of Public Health and other county departments to fight the use of illegal substances.
