COVID-19 has claimed two more lives in Broome County: a woman in her 80s and a woman in her 50s and a nursing home is back on the County’s hotspot list for the coronavirus.

While new cases in the general community have been in the majority over the past several weeks, County Executive Jason Garnar said in a facebook post that Bridgewater Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Binghamton is seeing a flareup.

Broome County added 75 new cases, yesterday reporting a total of 29-hundred coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic.  614 of those cases are considered active.  Now, 88 people’s deaths are attributed to COVID-19.

For a second day, Tioga County reported another death attributed to the pandemic, bringing their total to 30.  There were 15 new cases reported for a total in Tioga County of 475.

Chenango County yesterday reported 17 new cases for a total of 330 and 7 deaths.  Cortland continues to struggle with a spike in cases with 23 new positive tests for the coronavirus reported yesterday for a total of 665 but the county has only reported one death.  Delaware County added two cases for a total of 145 and eight deaths.

Statewide there were 12 more deaths, bring the state’s death toll from the pandemic to 25-thousand 672. The total number of cases rose by one-thousand, 201 to 486-thousand, 480.
