N.E. Pa Counties Show Marked Decrease In COVID Infection Numbers
Counties in the Northern Tier of Pennsylvania are showing significant slowing in the number of positive cases for the coronavirus over the past week, ending June 1, 2021.
According to the latest numbers from the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Bradford County had only 39 new cases compared to what has been the norm of over 100 a week. Bradford did have one new death for a total of 90.
Susquehanna County only had 11 new cases compared to 52 the previous week and Wayne County reported 19 new cases for the week compared to 52 in the last report.
Statewide, Pennsylvania added 6,301 cases for the week for a pandemic total of 1,202,863. There were 172 new deaths for the week for a statewide total of 27,214.
In the Southern Tier of New York, Broome County reports one new death Sunday for a total of 347. None of the other counties reported new fatalities attributed to the pandemic. Some counties appear to be backing off from daily updates. The Delaware County Health Department website lists a weekly report of cases and deaths. Tioga County’s last report was for May 28.
