M&T Bank Corp. Gives Southern Tier COVID Vaccination Plan a Shot in the Arm
A financial institution with several branches in the Southern Tier is stepping up to help give the local fight against the COVID pandemic a real 'shot in the arm' with an infusion of money.
M&T Bank is awarding $20,000 to United Health Services (UHS) to support vaccine distribution in the region.
UHS has been designated the coordinating hub for the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine when it becomes available under New York's phase two inoculation plans.
Phase one, which is currently underway, is giving the vaccine to front-line healthcare workers and nursing home residents. Phase two will provide free shots to essential workers and at-risk members of the general public.
M&T Bank's contribution will support the purchase of equipment needed to store and administer the vaccines.
M&T's regional headquarters is located on Exchange Street in Downtown Binghamton. The Buffalo-based financial holding company operates offices in 9 states, including New York and Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia.
