Pennsylvania State Police say a Towanda man is dead after the motorcycle he was operating collided with a farm tractor in Bradford County July 12.

Authorities say 47-year-old James Place was traveling north on Rolling Hills Road on a Harley Davison Softtail motorcycle with passenger, 44-year-old Marie Place when he encountered a Massey Ferguson Tractor hauling a diskbine making a left-hand turn from Rolling Hills Road in Smithfield Township into a field.

Investigators say the motorcyclist was unable to make a controlled stop and hit the farm equipment.  James Place was killed in the crash while Marie Place was thrown from the motorcycle and suffered serious injuries in the 1:40 p.m. crash.

The driver of tractor was not injured.
