The Broome County Commissioner of Mental Health says 80 percent of the clients of the County Mental Health Clinic have moved into different programs in the area as the Clinic prepares to close.

Arthur Johnson says the remaining clients will change programs by next spring.

There are currently three mental health facilities in Broome and Lourdes Hospital has received final New York State approval to open its clinic to adults in December.

Johnson reiterates that the county will continue to treat patients until every one has been accepted into a program.

There are expected to be about 100 patients left in the system by the being of the year.

Clients are finding services at Lourdes, United Health Services, the Greater Binghamton Health Center and Family and Children’s Society.

There has been no date set for the closing of the County Mental Health Clinic, but County officials have said the action is expected sometime in 2015.
