26 more KMart and Sears stores are closing, in some cases leaving small communities high and dry for a big retailer that offers clothing, home goods, garden supplies and other items.

USA Today reports the stores in Towanda, Pennsylvania and Bath, New York are among the last Sears holdings to fall.

USA Today says up to 100 more stores are expected to be closed by the end of the year.

The store at the Wysox Town Center is the final major retailer to leave the small Bradford County community.  Earlier this year another retailer in the plaza, Peebles, posted store closing signs.

A Ben Franklin store across the bridge on Route 6 in Towanda closed over a year ago.
