Marijuana, Cocaine, Chocolate Seized from Car Stuck in Snow on 17
Authorities found more than 15 pounds of marijuana, an ounce of cocaine and THC-laced candy in a vehicle disabled in the snow on Route 17 east of Binghamton.
A Broome County sheriff's deputy discovered three people in the 2019 Kia that was stuck on a snow-covered shoulder of the highway in the town of Windsor Monday morning.
The deputy detected a "strong odor of marijuana" coming from inside the vehicle, which had a suspended registration.
A search of the car turned up the marijuana in the trunk, along with powder cocaine. Chocolate bars and gummy candy containing THC also were found.
27-year-old Gabriel Veras of Syracuse was charged with three felony counts for possession of a controlled substance and marijuana. He was issued appearance tickets for Windsor town court.
