A Florida man is back in custody in Cortland County to face manslaughter charges.

Officials say 33 year old Ardell Holmes is accused of being involved in the October death of 29 year old Jayquan Hines of Cortland.

Police were called to Pine Street, Cortland at around 11:15 a.m. October 7 about a man with a severe head injury lying in the street.

Hines later died at a  Syracuse hospital.

At the time police were told two men left the scene, headed north on Maine Street.  There’s no word from authorities if a second man is still being sought.

Holmes is charged with manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon.  He’s being held in the Cortland County Jail without bail.
