One driver was sent to the hospital following a crash that left a pickup truck on top of his vehicle.

Authorities say the crash happened in Oneida County shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday.

According to New Hartford Police, 74-year-old Norbert Kupiec of New York Mills apparently became incapacitated by a medical problem as he drove on Commercial Drive in front of the Consumer Square Shopping Plaza.

Kupiec's car slammed into the rear of a Chevrolet Avanlanche pickup truck. After the initial collision, Kupiec's vehicle became completely lodged under the truck. Police say the pickup was left teetering precariously on the roof of the car.

A third vehicle was struck by the pickup truck in the incident.

Kupiec was taken to a hospital for treatment. His condition was not released.

Police say no tickets have been issued. The crash was under investigation.
