Man Arrested for Stolen Truck Stuck on Railroad Tracks
A Castle Creek man is charged with felony criminal possession of stolen property after Broome County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a disabled vehicle on Norfolk Southern railroad tracks at Nowlan Road and Route 7B in the Town of Fenton shortly before 7 a.m. October 5.
Witnesses said they saw a man walking away from the truck down the railroad tracks.
Deputies found a 2000 Ford F550 pickup on the tracks and determined the truck had been reported stolen from a business in the Town of Vestal.
34 year old Shane Karika admitted he stole the truck in an attempt to tow another vehicle he had left on railroad property a few days earlier.
Karika was turned over to Vestal Police in connection with the investigation of the original burglary that happened September 17.
