A 39-year-old man faces felony charges following a lengthy police pursuit through rural sections of Broome and Tioga counties.

Authorities say Bradley Hesco was taken into custody in Newark Valley Tuesday afternoon after he allegedly ran from a stolen van.

According to the Broome County Sheriff's Office, the vehicle - which bore "FedEx" markings - had been reported stolen from the town of Chenango early Monday.

Police tried to stop the van shortly after it had been spotted on Route 206 in the town of Greene. The driver did not pull over and the vehicle was pursued through Whitney Point, Lisle, Richford and Berkshire.

Investigators say Hesco tried to elude police by turning into a long driveway in Newark Valley, parking the van and running off. He ultimately was tackled by a sheriff's deputy.

Hesco, who apparently has no permanent address, was charged with criminal possession of stolen property, criminal possession of a weapon and resisting arrest. He also faces a count of criminal possession of a controlled substance.

The stolen van contained various items, including a long gun, laptop computers and a generator.
