A malfunctioning sprinkler caused a wet infield mess and forced the postponement of the scheduled Binghamton Rumble Ponies versus Erie Seawolves doubleheader at NYSEG Stadium on Saturday afternoon.  The doubleheader was scheduled after Friday night's game was postponed due to rain and the threat of severe weather.  Binghamton has now played five games and had five postponed due to some problem.  The postponement left many Rumble Ponies fans in disbelief.  The day was sunny with highs close to 70 and no rain in sight.

The Rumble Ponies had all three of their games in Portland, Maine earlier in the week postponed and now have had two of the first three games in a four-game series with Erie postponed in Binghamton.

The sprinkler malfunction caused a quagmire in the middle portion of the infield and started with the tarp covering the infield which further confined the water coming out of the sprinkler system.

The teams will play one game on Sunday afternoon at 2:05.  Airtime is scheduled for 1:50 P.M. on News Radio 1290 WNBF and online at wnbf.com.
