A major marijuana growing operation has been discovered and shut down in the Town of Newark Valley.  Criminal Investigators from the Tioga County Sheriff's Office on Monday, October 20th, attempted to serve an arrest warrant for an individual wanted in Broome County. While doing so investigators discovered growing marijuana and a processing operation at a residence at 1416 Newark Valley Maine Road.

Investigators executed a search warrant at the residence and recovered more than one hundred pounds of marijuana with an estimated value of $424,000.  Investigators also seized various drug paraphernalia from the residence.

Arrested and taken into custody was the owner of the residence, Richard B. Paugh, age 45.  Paugh has been charged with Criminal Possession of Marijuana in the First Degree which is a Class C Felony.  Paugh was arraigned before Town of Newark Valley Justice John Schaffer and committed to the Tioga County Jail with no bail.
