State and local officials have plans for a lot of road work as the construction season moves into the final months of summer.

The New York State Department says, on the Prospect Mountain Project, the right lane is being closed on State Route 17 West between Exit 72, Prospect Street, and Exit 71, Airport Road, for concrete work from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily through August 4.

There will be periodic, alternating lane closures daily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. through August 3 on Broad Avenue at the Interstate 81/State Route 17 interchange in association with the construction of the new bridge over Broad Avenue and the railroad.

The right lane of Interstate 81 North is being closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily through August 3 between Chenango Street and the I81 North bridge over the Chenango River as steel girders for the new 17 West Flyover Bridge over the Chenango River are brought in and installed.

Nighttime bridge washing will cause alternating lane closures controlled by flaggers on State Route 201 North and South from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. daily through August 11.

Route 17 East and West traffic is being detoured between Nichols and Lounsberry through Labor Day due to flash flood damage to a bridge.

The Pennsylvania Avenue Bridge North lane is being closed August 1 & 2 in the City of Binghamton from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days for bridge joint work.  A signed detour will be in place.

Watson Boulevard in the Town of Union is down to one alternating lane in each direction controlled by a temporary traffic light while construction work is being done at the old IBM Country Club.  That work is expected to last to the end of the summer.

Broome County says road work is planned through August 5 with grader patching on Killawog Hill, Powderhouse and East Windsor Roads; ditching and culvert work on Kiebel Road and X-road culvert replacement on Colesville Road.

The City of Binghamton is continuing paving and patching work in various neighborhoods.  Watch for signs.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation says Warren Center Road between Leraysville Road and Casterline Road in Warren Township has now reopened.

Leraysville Road between Cadis Road and Route 187 in Windham Township has been found to have bridge damage and is expected to open by the end of August.

Battle Creek Road between Arnold Road/North Orwell Road in Rome Township and Waterman Road in Windham Township is expected to reopen August 14.

PennDOT crews, meanwhile continue to clean up flood debris and make repairs on roads that are open and motorists should use caution.

Aside from road work, there is a change in public transportation in Broome County.  Some BC Transit Outbound #35 bus stops on Main Street Westbound in Johnson City are changed: the stops at Main Street/Avenue C and Main Street/Willow Street are combined into one stop at 219 Main Street. The stop in front of the Post Office is moved to Main Street at Harrison Street.  Main Street/Allen Street is moved to the intersection near NY Penn Trade Center. The stop at Main and 1st Street is removed.  The stop at Main and 3rd is moved "downstream" of the intersection where there is a crosswalk.  Main and Allen's stop is "downstream" where there is a crosswalk. Main/Harrison Street is moved "downstream" of the intersection. The stop at Main/Baldwin Street is moved back to Main/Harrison Street.  Main/Broad Street is moved back to "upstream" of the intersection of Main and Broad.

There is no change to service or frequency.
