Lockheed Martin workers in Tioga County should find out within three weeks whether their jobs will be affected by the company's latest round of layoffs.

The Lockheed Mission Systems and Training division has announced plans to trim about 600 positions. People whose jobs are to be eliminated are expected to be informed on November 6.

The Lockheed Owego site now has fewer than 2,700 employees, down from more than 4,000 a few years ago.

Company officials said they won't announce the number of layoffs at specific facilities until after workers have been notified.

A Lockheed operation in Salina is also part of the division to be affected by the new cuts.
