Link Apollo Simulator Coming Back to Binghamton

An important piece of United States space history is returning to the Binghamton area.

The Lunar Module Simulator built by Link in Broome County is about to go on display at the Center for Technology and Innovation.

The simulator's visual system is being made available on long-term loan by the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum.

Apollo astronauts learned to navigate by stars using the training equipment developed and constructed by Link. The simulator was built by Link in the 1960s at the Broome County Airport with parts provided by Farrand Optical of the Bronx.

According to the center, veteran engineers from Link, Farrand Optical and NASA will work to restore the telescope component of the simulator.
