After the City of Binghamton School District detected lead in water sources in some of its buildings, several other school districts are planning to test for lead.

Johnson City, Deposit, Union-Endicott, Vestal, Whitney Point and Maine-Endwell are all planning on water sample tests through Broome Tioga BOCES while the Greater Southern Tier BOCES is looking at samples in the Chenango Forks, Chenango Valley and Windsor school districts.

Families have been receiving information on the planned testing on districts’ websites.

The action is coming outside of any normal required testing in the districts.
