Tom Thibodeau is coming back to the big apple as the New York Knicks head coach.

The New York Knicks website and several sources are reporting that Tom Thibodeau is the new head coach of the New York Knicks.

Thibodeau was on the Knicks coaching staff during their biggest playoff appearance years, in the mid 1990’s through the early 2000’s, including their playoff run from the eighth seed to the NBA finals in 2000.

Thibodeau said (as quoted by espn) “This is a dream come true for me”.

Thibodeau a former NBA Coach of the Year, when he led the Chicago Bulls to a great playoff run, and went to Minnesota to help the Timberwolves return to the post season after a 13 year absence.

The Knicks have some rising stars with RJ Barrett, Mitchell, Robinson, Kevin Knox and Frank Ntilikina, they also have some extra draft picks, and a lottery selection yet to take place.

The free agents from last year including Elfrid Payton, Julius Randle, Bobby Portis and Taj Gibson could be back to help this new group of talented players.

I know first hand as a loyal New York Knicks fan, that the past two decades have brought promises, and disappointments.

Do we finally have the right coach, and the right pieces to build a championship team?
