JC Police Investigate Shooting Near Wilson Medical Center
Police in Johnson City are investigating the shooting of a man in the neighborhood of Wilson Medical Center.
Officers and medics were sent to a residence on Baldwin Street, a few blocks south of the hospital, just before 3 p.m. Thursday.
Police officers and Johnson City detectives swarmed a section of Baldwin Street between Corliss and Floral avenues.
An injured person was being evaluated inside a Union Volunteer Emergency Squad ambulance.
The rig left the scene after several minutes and transported the person to the nearby hospital.
The shooting may have happened at a location other than on Baldwin Street. Police vehicles were seen on Corliss Avenue near St. Charles Street. One vehicle was parked along railroad tracks just west of the UHS-owned Eckelberger Tower apartment building. One officer was observed interviewing residents in the neighborhood.
Johnson City police requested a canine unit from Binghamton to assist in searching the area where the shooting may have occurred.
