A man who was treated for burns after a blaze in his Johnson City residence has been charged with arson.

Authorities say 32-year-old Nicholas Richard of 307 Deyo Hill Road was arraigned in village court Wednesday. He is charged with third-degree arson and second-degree criminal mischief. He was released without bail.

The fire at the man's home was reported around 6:30 a.m. January 11. The house was fully engulfed when police and firefighters arrived.

Police officers found Richard at the scene. He was treated for burns at a Syracuse hospital.

Investigators say the fire was set during a domestic dispute. The residence sustained extensive damage and a significant amount of personal property was destroyed by the blaze.
