Firefighters from two departments battled a blaze that broke out in a three-unit apartment building in Johnson City.

The fire at 48 Farr Avenue on the village's South Side was reported around 12:20 p.m. Friday.

A police officer who arrived on the scene reported flames were coming from the back of the three-story building.

Units from Johnson City were assisted by Binghamton fire department personnel. No injuries were reported.

It was not immediately known how many people were inside the apartment house when the fire broke out.

One man who resides in the building arrived to see firefighters working to extinguish the blaze. He said he lives in the house with his wife and three children. The children were in school.

Firefighters brought out two of the family's pets. A dog named Dottie and a rabbit named Nova were nervous but unhurt.

Broome County records show the owners of the apartment house live in Brooklyn.
