April is Autism Awareness Month and the Johnson City Police Association is preparing to launch their Autism Awareness T-Shirt fundraiser.

According to the CDC one in fifty-four children in the United States are diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder according to 2016 data. ( 1 in 34 boys, 1 in 144 girls)

The average cost of an autism case through childhood is estimated at $60,000 per year, with the majority of the cost in special care and lost wages related to demands on parents.

The Johnson City Police Association has begun their 4th annual T-Shirt fundraiser, with all proceeds going to ‘Alive with Autism, a not-for-profit organization that provides programs and services for individuals and families with autism.

The Autism Awareness T-shirts are $20 for short sleeve, and $25 for long sleeve, both adult and youth sizes are available, along with face masks this year.

The JC Police Association understands the need to raise awareness, support and love to those diagnosed with autism.
