Eighth Lake Campground - Inlet

First up is Eighth Lake Campground in Inlet which is located on the shore of Eight Lake. According to the NY DEC website offers "large and well-forested sites" and the campground can accommodate everything from tents to 40-foot RVs with boat access, fishing, hiking, and more. This is the more rustic of the two New York entries on this list and Trips To Discover says this site is known for its great fishing, large campsites, and easy access to Old Forge and the Adirondack Museum. Lake George Escape - Lake George

No surprise here that a Lake George camping area was the second site listed as one of the region's best by Trips To Discover. Located on the Schroon River with almost 575 sites for tents and RV's, Lake George Escape is a privately run campground that offers the camping experience with a full slate of amenities like an arcade, heated pool, planned activities and events, mini-golf, tubing on the river, and so much more.
