Honor Veterans Day In Oxford: Legion Hosts Ceremony
The Fort Hill American Legion Post #376 in Oxford is inviting the community to join them in commemorating Veterans Day on Saturday, November 11th.
This annual event serves as a solemn reminder to honor and appreciate the dedication and sacrifices made by members of the nation's armed forces. The ceremony will include various tributes, such as an honorable service, "Taps," and light refreshments.
Since the signing of the armistice that ended World War I on November 11, 1918, Veterans Day has held a special significance in the United States. It provides an opportunity for the nation as a whole and its citizens to pause and pay tribute to American veterans who have served in wars and conflicts throughout history. The observance of Veterans Day is deeply meaningful to the American Legion, as it aligns closely with its mission and values.
Commander Darlene Ardron of Post 376 extends a warm invitation to the community, urging everyone to come and participate in this special Veterans Day event. It is a chance to express gratitude and appreciation to all those who have selflessly served in times of war and peace. The ceremony will serve as a reminder of the sacrifices made by veterans and the importance of honoring their contributions.
The Auxiliary of Post 376 is holding a fundraising raffle for a "Complete Thanksgiving Dinner." Tickets are available for purchase at the Legion during the Sunday Community Breakfast or at the bar. The raffle winner will be drawn immediately after the Veterans Day ceremony, and the lucky winner will be contacted if not present.
As a gesture of appreciation, veterans and active-duty military personnel will be offered a complimentary meal at the Legion bar on Veterans Day, with a special menu featuring Chicken and Biscuit with vegetable gravy. Non-military attendees can enjoy the meal for a nominal fee of $5. The Legion bar will open at noon to accommodate those attending the event.
